Enabling XML and XSLT in jEdit

  1. Install the following plugins (either through 'Plugins Manager' or, if there are problems here, from http://plugins.jedit.org/):
    1. ErrorList (from 'Support')
    2. SideKick (from 'Support')
    3. XercesPlugin (from 'HTML and XML')
    4. XML (from 'HTML and XML')
    5. XmlIndenter (from 'HTML and XML')
    6. XSLT (from 'HTML and XML')
  2. If installing manually, unpack all zip files to '\program files\jEdit\jars' folder (or location of jEdit on your system if not Windows).
  3. Set up XML functions on docked windows
    1. Go to 'Utilities' menu and select 'Global Settings'
    2. Under 'jEdit' select 'Docking'
    3. For XML Insert, we recommend changing 'Docking position' to 'left' (using dropdown menu)
    4. For both Error List and XSLT Processor we recommend change 'Docking Position' to 'Bottom'
    5. Click 'OK' to exit the window
  4. To activate any of these docked options, click on the button at the left or bottom of the window. Clicking again hides the dock temporarily. You may need to resize the docks for convenience.
  5. Change default font:
    1. Go to 'Utilities' menu and select 'Global Settings'
    2. Under 'jEdit' select 'Text Area'
    3. Click on the box to the right of 'Text font:'
    4. Change the font to a Greek Unicode compliant font, e.g. Arial Unicode MS, Palatino Linotype, Lucida Grande, New Athena Unicode, Cardo, etc.
    5. Click 'OK' to exit the window
